discuss the content/style of your work
the style of my work was either to be normal or surreal but i have not attempted to make something surreal, i think in my bouncy ball animation i suppose that it was meant to be a fun animation as it was made just for practise, the moving cylinder was basically to demonstrate the main features of bones and how the bones movement affect the cylinder, i never intended to add a little bit of humour in my animation but i think the animation with the hierarchy show what hierarchy does to a 3D animation, overall i think i am trying to make my animations look pretty standard and neutral. for the content its basically just shapes which are made using standard primatives, whilst they are edited using the editable poly option, i find this easy because i can shape the baic shapes and make them look good, the content is basically either weird or neutral, this is bacause i am traying to make the animations look enjoyable to people who are viewing the videos through out the blog
Did you encounter any problems when creating the product? If so how were they resolved?
i think i had not many problems with my work but there was one problem with the file house, when i tried to cut a beam in the wall but i ended up being diagonal, to solve this i managed to get the cursor to cut a beam via cutting it from the middle left hand side of the wall.
What have you learnt from this experience?
from this experience i have learned mostly how to use 3D studio max and how to place bones in 3D models, i have found this pretty useful for future animations.
What skills have been developed throughout this process?
i have learned to make bones and be able to put them into a 3D mesh, this i think will be use this in my main project during the next year, also i have learned to make animations in 3Ds max using key frames.
did you meet the deadline?
i believe that i have met each of the deadlines.
did you have any problems with time management
at the beginning of the term with the PowerPoint about games personnel and other people i did worry that i would not get it done in time but thankfully i did finish it in time, also i did get worried about the evaluation not being done on time, otherwise i had no problems with time management
If you had the opportunity to make this product again would you do anything different?
the major thing i would change is that i would need to add more textures to all my pieces of 3D studio max work because at the moment they look a little bit bland and boring, also in the file scranor the viking05 file i think i should make the hand look more human rather than looking like a dolphins fin, also in that file i think i need to add fingers to the hand due to the same reasons above.
are you happy with the overall product?
despite that fact that most of my work looks bad i feel happy with each product i have made.also in this evaluation is videos of some of my models and animations hope you enjoy them

3D modelling evaluation questions 5 to 12
3D animation evaluation questions 3 and 4
my actual animations and models were made in 3D studio max, most of the models were made by editing standard polygons and shaping them into different shapes, i also used the lighting tools in my viking model to make a background image appear so i can shape the various shapes to make it resemble a viking, the textures in the background were actually a edited image which was made smaller in adobe photo shop, the image was the placed on a plane so i can have a bit of support creating the viking. for the ball animation i made the ball move by moving it a little bit in a few key frames, after finishing the animation i ran it to see if it will work and thankfully it does, in the karate legs model i added the bones to the skin and was able to make the legs move like they were on a human i have done well around this area and i think it is easy to understand, i think the areas i need to develop around is the whole UV mapping as i do not understand it fully, i think that is the only area i need help on.
discuss the aesthetic aspects of your work and highlight the strengths/area to develop
in the animations there is really not much to say about it, the colours in the file scratnor the viking05.max are basically bright and colourful, but i rather add full textures, the main reason is to add them to make them look presentable, in my other pieces of work the colours vary but i think this is not a major problem, i think i need to work on how to texture in future because i need to make the models to look realistic, a strength i can mention is that i can add basic colours to my work which is okay for the time being.
3D animation evaluation question's 1 and 2
for my 3D animation work i have completed i believe that the products do meet my expectation because i have tryed to work hard on each piece of work and even though some of the work looks pretty bad i think i have tried my best, i feel that my bouncy ball animation is one of myfavorite animation's because it meets my original intention whilst for the file scratnor the viking05 i feel nearly meets my original intention as well but this file and my files house and house 2 are not finished so i can say they both partially meet my expectations.
Is the end product appropriate for your intended audience
i think that my work is intended for my target audience, to begin with i feel that my animation featuring a ball and a stair case may also be for my intended audience even though it has no humour and is suppose to be a short animation, i feel that both animations are both intended for the age range between 13 and up.

Unit 63 evaluation
Flash game evaluation
By Matthew Carrington
Before this evaluation I had discovered that my game did not look complete so I decided to edit it a bit.
The game was actually suppose to be a pong game but due to the difficulty making it I decided to modify a balloon game, what I did was replace the balloons with different coloured Pringles and then I edited some of the writing making it look different, also I modified the colour scheme to make it look bright and colourful.
I modified the balloon game in adobe flash because I already have used flash on a number of occasions, during the project I first had to find a tutorial for a pong game, but the tutorials looked difficult so I decided to modify a balloon game into a shooting game which took me about 2 to 4 weeks, the research took about a few weeks to do. Even though the crisp shooting idea was not as originally planned because I was planning a pong style game, But this was changed due to the fact that a pong game would be difficult to make, there were not many problems, one problem was that some of the update’s did not save properly so I had to redo them which included redoing the writing, another problem was finding a pong tutorial which was solved by changing the original idea. This game is also appropriate to the audience in question because I have managed to not include any inappropriate in it and I have made it child friendly.
The images I got during planning were from various website’s found on Google images, I have posted a page with most of the links on it (I could not find the link for the vending machine), they basically show Pringles either in a funny or in a standard fashion, and the inspiration behind the game was
The objective of the game is to shoot as many Pringles in a minute, this is a basic game which has been modified from a balloon shooting game, and the points system is kept over from the game which makes it a bit similar to the game I modded. On the main game screen the Pringles fly up from the bottom of the screen whilst the red ones appear on an uncommon occurrence, after a minute the games ends and you can play again if you wish after viewing your final scores.
Overall I think this game is good but it requires several improvements to make it better, like more coloured crisps and a soundtrack
unit 67 evaluation final question

unit 67 evaluation questions 5 to 9
the only problem i had during this course was actually thinking up of the idea, i had a few ideas but i thought some of them won't work because at the beginning i had too many ideas, so i thought of a suitable idea which actually does seem to work and i modified it a bit so it turned out as my final idea.
What have you learnt from this experience?
i have learned about Photoshop and how to make effects work in my final product, also i have learned to changed the shape of the frames as well as add weathering effects to the walls
What skills have been developed throughout this process?
i have developed skills in which i can try to set up the pages as well as being able to create dirt effects on the walls, also i am able to add the fill effects on the title and end screens, not only that i am able to add writing.
Did you meet the deadline?
i did meet the deadline and finished everything on time, also i have tried to make my work look good by tweaking it and adding colours to it
Did you have any problems with time management?
i think i did not have any time management, i have handed everything on time
unit 67 evaluation question 4
i did this storyboard in the
style of the cartoon series Beetlejuice, i have also used colourful colours and textures because i felt that this trailer should look like its come out of a cartoon, for the research portion on this work i have done research into comic book styles, to do this i looked at google so i can see different comic book designs i can use for research, i have found several comic book styles ranging between photo strips to marvel comics, in the end i did the storyboard has been created to look like a comic book strip this is because this type of comic book style is simpleunit 67 evaluation question 3
ed up adobe photoshop, to start with i used the paintbrush tool to make the box outlines stand out, after i did that i made the outlines for the characters stand out using the same tool, i also decided to add a bit of dirt and aswell as graphety to the wall, first i applyed the graphity by using the paintbrush tool and went around it in different colours, for the dirt i again used the paintbrush and the colour purple then i used the smudge tool to give i weathered effect on the wall, this is due to the setting being a city enviroment. for the grass on the last 4 game screens i changed the brush type on the paintbrush selection to the grass effect aswell as changed the colour to green, i also used the text tool to add the writing on some of the layers, the boxes are tilted by using the scale and screw selections from the transform menu, this is to give it a comic book effect, the stengths include that i think that i did well with the weathering which could be a feture in later storyboards, another thing i think i am good at is adding the outlines to the boxes. the things which i can work on its the clothes because they look in my eyes pretty tacky, whilst some of the weathering is a little bit too dark and needs to be spread out a little bit more, otherwise i think i have done well with this.unit 67 evaluation question 2
i do think that the end product does look suitable for my intended audience, i have made the trailer for this game for people over the age of 12, this is because i have tried to make this game look like it is to be made for people of that age with its crude humour as well as the fact i have also put the pegi symbol for swearing on the end title. otherwise the humour mostly attributes to the fact that it has some weird comical humour/physical comedy. otherwise this trailer is suitable for the intended age group of 12 and up.
to the right of this writing is what i could be aiming for , mostly a trailer for a fictitious video game but also i could also have a attempt at the cover, but that can be done on Photoshop at a later date.
unit 67 evaluation question 1

Tuesday, 16 June 2009
the following blog entry is an evaluation for unit 18

For research I looked at the I-phone icons on the internet and noticed that they were eye catching and had bright colours, after this I research about the company apple and looked at a variety of products including the I-Mac and the I-phone and fond out about the company, for the research for the icons I looked at books and found images that I found useful including a image of reptiles and the planet mars, these were useful for my icons, I have also compared other touch phones such as the blackberry in terms of comparison and the nokia touch screen phone, we looked at the phones we analyzed these and looked at the details, the concept sheets are used to create planned images which will be recreated in adobe Photoshop; these were titled war, science fiction, humour, fantasy and horror. On each sheet there were 4 ideas for each concept, then after that one of these from each section is selected and drawn out on another concept sheet before an explanation is written out and then I looked for several books to look for suitable designs and images. However for the whoopee cushion, there was an actual item which I took a photo of. Some of these images were scanned into the computer.
We also had to look at interactive media which included games and icons, we looked at how they were used and where they could they be applied, we also went to the BAF festival in Bradford which we looked at seminars about the games companies, the icons were made on adobe Photoshop for in which I had to first get used to the program, to begin with I created a circle to which the icon will go on, then using the program I created several icons, whilst the science fiction was just the circle coloured in red with a few blurred black lines, the tools I have used in Photoshop include the circle marquee tool which has allowed me to work in a circular space as well the rectangle marquee tool to continue on a certain area. To get rid of objects I used to erase tool because I have to get these correct or to my specifications. I also used the brush tool to add colour because they would look dull with out the colour, I used the pencil tool to add the lines to it and used the blur tool on the science fiction icon to make it look like it has been viewed from a distance. I have learned the basics of using Photoshop and know how to modify certain parts of a drawing as well as how to make them look good. Overall the project has been okay with a lot of knowledge absorbed.
